I love bread and love learning to bake it. In some of my reading the characters talk about Irish Soda bread. So, I decided to try to make some. I tried the Dutch Oven Irish Soda Bread recipe from QuicheMyGrits.com (love the name) which uses a small 3-QT dutch oven.

Great British Baking is BACK!

The new season of The Great British Bake-Off on Netflix premiered today with the debut of new co-host, Alison Hammond. 

Can bran muffins be both healthy and tasty? I decided to find out. 

Aside from CHOCOLATE my next favorite flavor is Cherry. Not sure if it was a conscious or subconscious  act but on a recent grocery trip I ended up with double the amount of cherries than I needed. I took this as a sign that I should try my hand at making Cherry Hand Pies.  And if I got ambitious add a chocolate drizzle on the top.  

One of my favorite magazines and websites is, Bake from Scratch. I love looking at the recipes.  I don't always try them though. Sometimes they feel a bit intimidating. This one, however, seemed very doable, and well, its bread.

I confess, I. Love. Chocolate. Chip. Cookies.  So when I saw that there is a Chocolate Chip Cookie day, I had to do a bake. True, I use any reason, eh excuse to make them.

There has got to be some reward for all of the work with maintaining sourdough starter. I knew going into this that there would be discard. I was not quite prepared for how much discard there be.
